Ya Know What Pandas Eat?

Ethan and I were having lunch today and we were playing the "ocean game" where we pretend the rug is the ocean and list off the creatures we "see". Somehow while doing this (I can't remember how) Ethan brought up bears. Then he asked me what bears eat. I thought a bit and replied that they mostly eat fish, but probably eat berries also. I suggested we check out his encyclopedia Nai-Nai got him after lunch to see if I was right. Then he started talking about other bears...polar bears, etc. and said something about panda bears. As best as I can remember here's what he said:

"....panda bears. (gasp & holding and index finger in the air) Hey! I know what panda bears eat! Baa-boo!"

I started laughing. Yes, he said "baa-boo" just like I wrote it. The sound a sheep makes followed by what you say to scare someone. I finally managed to stop laughing and I asked him "What did you say panda bears eat?"

(very matter of fact voice & the cutest face in the world)"They eat baa-boo." I started laughing again. His little face was just so adorable & the way the "boo" came out was just too cute. I couldn't help myself. I finally regained composure again...after Ethan asked me to stop laughing...and explained to him that panda bears eat BAMboo. "Oh." He says. Then we discussed how the two words did sound alike and that he made a joke without even knowing it. We had a good chuckle. Fun times!
