It may not seem like a big deal, but Ethan went and "took care of business" on his own this morning. All I heard was the toilet flushing and by the time I got to the bathroom to check on him, he was done washing his hands.

Letter from Mommy

November 17, 2008
by CHANTELLE WAI

I love that I find little pieces of mulch all over the house. I love when I see a treasured rock you brought inside for your dad and absent mindedly placed it on the bookshelf. I love randomly finding cars, trucks, and various other vehicles under the coffee table, behind pillows on the couch, and on your bathroom counter. I love how you run everywhere you go. I love your laugh and your smile. Even if I'm sad, all you have to do is flash that smile and your joy fills me up. I love how you love animals and are so tender and caring with them - even your stuffed friends. I love your curiosity - even though somtimes the number and frequency of your questions can wear me out a little.

I love how you say all your friends are your BEST friends. I love how you love people and consider everyone a friend - even strangers. I love to watch you concentrate while you draw, write, build, or investigate how something works. I can literally see the wheels turning in your head and it is beautiful. I love how you dance. I love how great you are at spinning and hopping. I love how you ride your bike. I love how you enjoy nature and being outside. I love your energy.

I love how you say "Good Morning, Mommy!" every morning and give me my morning hug and kiss. I love how you love to give kisses and hugs and wrestle. I love how much you love elevators & escalators (excavators). I love how you think about God in your daily life. I love how you say your prayers at night; kneeling on the floor trying your best to be sincere and think of what to say. I love how you want to brush your teeth in your underwear, because that's how daddy does it. I love how much you enjoy playing games - especially "Go Fish" and "Hi-Ho Cherry-O". I love your jokes. I love how much you love babies.

I love how you always want to help me. I love how you enjoy cooking and sweeping and any cleaning that involves water. I love that you can get dressed, comb your hair, make your bed, brush your teeth, clear your breakfast dishes, and put on your shoes all by yourself. I love how you look in your sunglasses. I love to hear you sing - especially "My God Is So Big", "It Is Well With My Soul", and "Lord I Lift Your Name on High". I love your small hands and feet - just like mine and your dad's. I love when you make silly faces. I love your sweet heart.

These are all the things I can think of now that I love about you. I'm sure I will come up with more as you continue to grow and change. But one thing that will never change is that I love you just the way you are, for who you are. You make me laugh every day. You make me feel loved and special every day. You are a joy to me and I treasure you greatly. Only one more year and you'll be at school every day. I know I will miss seeing and hearing you then, so I'm cherishing all I can now. I pray God will love and teach you through me every day.

Love,
Mommy
